Manager pay in Wyoming after taxes: what you keep (2026)

The median manager in Wyoming earned $94,900 a year in May 2024, which is $46 an hour for a full-time year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Half of the 7,030 managers the BLS counts in Wyoming earned more than that and half earned less; the middle half of them sat between $61,910 and $134,800. That is the gross figure, before anyone takes anything. What you keep depends on Wyoming's tax, and Wyoming has no state income tax on wages.

What the median manager keeps in Wyoming

For a single filer on the median $94,900, taking the standard deduction and no other adjustments:

LineA yearA month
Gross pay (BLS median)$94,900$7,908
Federal income tax-$12,719-$1,060
Social Security and Medicare (7.65%)-$7,260-$605
Wyoming state income tax$0$0
Take-home$74,921$6,243

Wyoming takes nothing from wages, so the only deductions are federal. That is worth $4,745 a year against a state with a flat 5% tax on the same salary. Health insurance, retirement contributions and local taxes are not in it either; they vary by employer and by city.

Where Wyoming ranks for manager pay

Of the 50 states, Wyoming ranks 35 of 50 on the gross median for managers. The highest-paying state is New Jersey at $149,990 and the lowest is Arkansas at $64,260. Gross rank is not take-home rank: a state with no income tax climbs several places once the state line is applied, and a high-tax state drops.

Colorado$130,340$5,735$93,814
Utah$91,230$4,105$68,234

Nebraska$82,570$3,006$63,241
Idaho$76,480$4,053$57,909

South Dakota and Colorado leave a manager with more at the end of the year than Wyoming does; South Dakota by about $26,747. Utah, Montana, Nebraska and Idaho pay less once tax is counted. Pay is one line; rent is the other, and a higher median in a metro with higher rent can leave you with less.

Where the manager jobs are in Wyoming

The BLS count of 7,030 managers is statewide. The metros with the most of that work are Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie and Gillette, which is where the median is set and where the upper quartile ($134,800 and above) is most often paid. Employers who could not hire locally and have filed with the Department of Labor are listed on the Wyoming openings page; those filings are the ones already paying to bring people in, and housing or transport is often part of the offer.

What people get wrong about manager pay in Wyoming

  • Quoting the mean. The BLS mean for Wyoming is $54 an hour, pulled up by the top earners. The median ($46) is what the typical manager makes.
  • Comparing gross across states. Wyoming's zero state tax means its gross understates it against taxed states.
  • Forgetting the employer's share of insurance. A job that pays $92,900 with full health coverage can beat one that pays $97,900 without it.
  • Treating the statewide median as the metro median. Cheyenne pays differently from a rural county; ask for the figure for the place you are actually going.
