What the work involves

SOC 45-2091 — 100% of work performed. Seasonal employees will operate late-model John Deere equipment to provide application services to pastures and row crop acres, working as part of a functioning team effort to support spraying fields for farmers and ranchers and selling seed to them. The work requires understanding and following directions, carrying out routine repairs and maintenance on the equipment, filling fertilizer tanks after training, painting tanks to maintain them, cleaning equipment, and performing general workshop repairs as needed to keep operations moving. The season typically runs from January through November, with long hours during April, May, and June. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at their previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.

What that comes to in a month

At forty hours a week, the rate in this filing works out at about $3,557 a month before tax. That is the standard full-time month of 173 hours; overtime, deductions and the cost of getting there are not in it.

How the work permit works in the United States

Employer-sponsored temporary or permanent labor certification. The employer files with the Department of Labor first. Which programme applies depends on the work and whether it is seasonal.
