Manager in West Virginia: licence, certification and what employers require (2026)

West Virginia does not license managers: no licence. This page says what a manager licensed or working in another state has to do to work in West Virginia, in the order to do it, and what goes wrong when the order is reversed.

How the transfer works

Nothing is licensed for a general management role; licensed industries (healthcare, construction, finance) follow their own rules for the licence underneath.

What to have ready before you move

• A record of teams, budgets and results

Start the paperwork before you give notice. There is no West Virginia licence to wait for, so the only clock is the employer's.

What people get wrong

• Underestimating the cost-of-living gap for a management salary; the tax and rent lines move more than the base
