Delivery driver pay in Georgia after taxes: what you keep (2026)

The median delivery driver in Georgia earned $42,950 a year in May 2024, which is $21 an hour for a full-time year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Half of the 28,510 delivery drivers the BLS counts in Georgia earned more than that and half earned less; the middle half of them sat between $35,660 and $53,540. That is the gross figure, before anyone takes anything. What you keep depends on Georgia's tax, and Georgia has a flat 5.19% state income tax.

What the median delivery driver keeps in Georgia

For a single filer on the median $42,950, taking the standard deduction and no other adjustments:

LineA yearA month
Gross pay (BLS median)$42,950$3,579
Federal income tax-$3,170-$264
Social Security and Medicare (7.65%)-$3,286-$274
Georgia state income tax-$2,229-$186
Take-home$34,265$2,855

The state line is 5.2% of gross at this salary. Health insurance, retirement contributions and local taxes are not in it either; they vary by employer and by city.

Where Georgia ranks for delivery driver pay

Of the 50 states, Georgia ranks 28 of 50 on the gross median for delivery drivers. The highest-paying state is Alaska at $52,000 and the lowest is West Virginia at $36,110. Gross rank is not take-home rank: a state with no income tax climbs several places once the state line is applied, and a high-tax state drops.

Georgia$42,950$2,229$34,265
Tennessee$43,680$0$37,080
Florida$40,160$0$34,253
South Carolina$38,960$1,691$31,598
North Carolina$38,800$1,649$31,511
Alabama$38,130$1,335$31,286

Tennessee leaves a delivery driver with more at the end of the year than Georgia does. Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Alabama pay less once tax is counted. Pay is one line; rent is the other, and a higher median in a metro with higher rent can leave you with less.

Where the delivery driver jobs are in Georgia

The BLS count of 28,510 delivery drivers is statewide. The metros with the most of that work are Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus and Savannah, which is where the median is set and where the upper quartile ($53,540 and above) is most often paid. Employers who could not hire locally and have filed with the Department of Labor are listed on the Georgia openings page; those filings are the ones already paying to bring people in, and housing or transport is often part of the offer.

What people get wrong about delivery driver pay in Georgia

  • Quoting the mean. The BLS mean for Georgia is $23 an hour, pulled up by the top earners. The median ($21) is what the typical delivery driver makes.
  • Comparing gross across states. A $42,950 offer in Georgia is $34,265 in hand; the same number in a no-tax state is $36,494.
  • Forgetting the employer's share of insurance. A job that pays $40,950 with full health coverage can beat one that pays $45,950 without it.
  • Treating the statewide median as the metro median. Atlanta pays differently from a rural county; ask for the figure for the place you are actually going.
