En que consiste el trabajo
Workers will perform various duties associated with seasonal calving and youngstock care. The worker will perform duties related exclusively to the care and management of dairy cattle and daily barn operations. Animal Care: Feed and water dairy cattle according to established schedule, monitor animal health and report any signs of illness or injury, assist with the care of sick or injured animals, move cattle between pens, barns, and milking areas. Milking Operations: Assist with milking cows using proper procedures, clean and sanitize milking equipment before and after use, ensure milk quality standards are maintained. Calving & Youngstock Care: Assist with calving activities, provide care for newborn calves, including feeding and monitoring, maintain clean and safe environments for calves. Barn Maintenance & Sanitation: Clean stalls, pens, and alleyways, bed stalls with appropriate materials, maintain overall cleanliness of the barn and related facilities, wash and sanitize equipment used in the barn. Work is performed in and around livestock facilities, exposure to animals, odors, dust, and varying temperatures is expected. 60 days prior to calving, heifers are pulled out of milking herd and moved to calving pin. Workers are needed to pull calves and move out of pasture within 24 hours of birth, moved into hutches. Workers may drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools, or farm workers. Workers may repair fencing. Workers may be required to perform work on the farm that is incidental to the dairy operation such as performing hand weeding or hoeing, greenhouse/equipment/vehicle cleaning and repairing buildings, maintaining grounds, operate tractor/farm equipment, incidental crop setup when needed, cleaning around ponds, barns, and fields with bush axe and/or sling blade. General Conditions: Job involves stooping, lifting, kneeling and working in inclement weather as well as indoor & outdoor extreme temperatures below 30 to in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit, ability to work long hours especially during peak season. The employer will designate time for lunch and breaks. Seven to eight hours per day is normal. Workers may be offered more than the specified work in a single day. The worker may be requested but not required to work 12-14 hours per day and/or on the Sabbath or Federal holidays depending upon weather and other conditions. The employer will designate time for lunch and breaks. Workers may be requested to work Sunday during peak times and special needs but not required. These requirements pertain to both H-2A and US workers. Extreme heat, cold or drought may affect working hours. Employer will offer 40 hours per week, weather and crop conditions permitting. Worker will report to work at designated time and place as directed by employer each day. All of the tasks in this job description constitute one (1) job; the employer may assign workers to different tasks on any day or to multiple tasks during the same day in the sole judgment of the employer. This is a very demanding and competitive business in which quality specifications must be rigorously adhered to. Negligent work cannot and will not be tolerated. Workers should expect occasional periods of little or no work due to weather, crop, or other conditions beyond the control of the employer. This can occur anytime throughout the season. Given that the demands of agricultural production are unpredictable and determined by factors to include weather, crop conditions, market demands and seasonal task needs and numerous other factors, it is impossible to predict with any degree of accuracy the percentage of time that will be dedicated to any specific task. If an updated AEWR for the occupational classification and geographic area is published in the Federal Register during the work contract, and the updated AEWR is lower than the rate guaranteed on the job order, the employer must continue to pay at least the rate guaranteed on the job order.
