CNA pay in Nevada after taxes: what you keep (2026)

The median CNA in Nevada earned $45,060 a year in May 2024, which is $22 an hour for a full-time year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Half of the 8,670 CNAs the BLS counts in Nevada earned more than that and half earned less; the middle half of them sat between $36,950 and $47,590. That is the gross figure, before anyone takes anything. What you keep depends on Nevada's tax, and Nevada has no state income tax on wages.

What the median CNA keeps in Nevada

For a single filer on the median $45,060, taking the standard deduction and no other adjustments:

LineA yearA month
Gross pay (BLS median)$45,060$3,755
Federal income tax-$3,423-$285
Social Security and Medicare (7.65%)-$3,447-$287
Nevada state income tax$0$0
Take-home$38,190$3,183

Nevada takes nothing from wages, so the only deductions are federal. That is worth $2,253 a year against a state with a flat 5% tax on the same salary. Health insurance, retirement contributions and local taxes are not in it either; they vary by employer and by city.

Where Nevada ranks for CNA pay

Of the 50 states, Nevada ranks 10 of 50 on the gross median for CNAs, in the top ten. The highest-paying state is Oregon at $48,390 and the lowest is Louisiana at $30,240. Gross rank is not take-home rank: a state with no income tax climbs several places once the state line is applied, and a high-tax state drops.

Oregon$48,390$3,353$37,512
California$46,420$4,322$34,961
Arizona$41,980$1,050$34,665
Utah$38,500$1,733$31,186
Idaho$37,530$1,989$30,150

None of Nevada's neighbours beats it on take-home for CNAs. Oregon, California, Arizona, Utah and Idaho pay less once tax is counted. Pay is one line; rent is the other, and a higher median in a metro with higher rent can leave you with less.

Where the CNA jobs are in Nevada

The BLS count of 8,670 CNAs is statewide. The metros with the most of that work are Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno and North Las Vegas, which is where the median is set and where the upper quartile ($47,590 and above) is most often paid. Employers who could not hire locally and have filed with the Department of Labor are listed on the Nevada openings page; those filings are the ones already paying to bring people in, and housing or transport is often part of the offer.

What people get wrong about CNA pay in Nevada

  • Quoting the mean. The BLS mean for Nevada is $21 an hour, pulled up by the top earners. The median ($22) is what the typical CNA makes.
  • Comparing gross across states. Nevada's zero state tax means its gross understates it against taxed states.
  • Forgetting the employer's share of insurance. A job that pays $43,060 with full health coverage can beat one that pays $48,060 without it.
  • Treating the statewide median as the metro median. Las Vegas pays differently from a rural county; ask for the figure for the place you are actually going.
