What the work involves

Workers will perform a variety of general farm tasks, primarily related to approximately 700 acres of alfalfa that is cut and chopped about every 28 days during the growing season. Workers will operate farm equipment to cut, chop, haul, process, package, store, and prepare alfalfa for shipment. They will also assist with corn and soybean harvest, haul crops to on-farm storage or loading areas, load semis, clean the shop, equipment, storage areas, and agricultural buildings, and perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs. Workers will also support other general farm operations as needed. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds for a distance of 75 yards. The work environment is a drug- and alcohol-free zone, and workers may be required to take a random drug test after hire at no cost to them. Workers are also required to have a valid Class C driver’s license to operate employer-provided transportation between off-site fields, farm sites, and worker housing. Our usual workday is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Workers must be available for extended hours and weekends when needed due to weather, crop conditions, or workload. During peak periods, including alfalfa cutting and chopping, planting, and fall harvest, workers must be available to work extended hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends, as needed. Work schedules may vary depending on weather, crop conditions, equipment needs, and workload. Workers will typically work Monday through Saturday, but Sunday work may be required when necessary to complete time-sensitive agricultural activities. The job requires physical stamina, the ability to operate agricultural machinery, and a willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
